Hasina Rahman

My name is Hasina and I am the owner of a female only combat club in Luton, called Pink Diamond Martial Arts.

I started martial arts at the age of 15, on the search for confidence and finding something I enjoy. I've always loved fitness, whether it was sprinting, martial arts or the gym. Martial Arts has always been a passion and fell in love with it instantly. The confidence, discipline and strength you gain from practicing it, is incomparable. I have studied various types of combat sports over the past 20 years, including; Karate, Muay Thai, Kickboxing and MMA.

During lockdown it was so important to keep physically fit. Not only will keeping fit help you stay active during times of stress, but can be so beneficial mentally too. I went for more walks and just enjoyed slowing things downs slightly, appreciating my health and keeping my mental health as a priority. This definitely helped me get thought the tough times.

I still did a variety of classes online via zoom for my students! These included; Pilates. Tai Chi and MuayThai. But I found a new appreciation for walking and just enjoying the outdoors! It's necessary to still keep fit during these times and I made sure all my clients were aware of that. Whether they joined my online sessions or went for a 30min walk outside, every bit helps.

I have restarted my combat club in the gyms from last week and it was such an amazing feeling to be back! All within Covid regulations, so there's a few changes and rules the girls will need to get used to.

For me exercise is like breathing, you need it in your life! Whether you do daily walks or combat sport, find something that you love and keep at it-#LutonLetsGetActive!
