Elliott Browne wins a silver medal at the World Championships in Tokyo.

Originally from Luton and a former member of Salto Gymnastics Club, Elliot competed at the trampoline, tumbling and double-mini trampoline (DMT) World Championships in Tokyo. Competing in the magnificent Ariake Gymnastics Centre, the gymnastics venue for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the British team put in strong performances in all three disciplines.

Elliott Browne retain his world silver medal for the individual competition and helped win gold with his tumbling team members. Elliott once again demonstrated his high difficulty to take the silver and add a fifth medal to the tumbling team's haul from this event.

He said after: "I'm absolutely buzzing! I went into the final open minded, with the focus to complete my two routines and stay on my feet. I left the big routine for my second pass and the tactic paid off. The quality gets better and better each year - it's immense. I've got even more to offer and things I'm working on. Of course I'm really happy with retaining the silver but I'm always pushing and will be doing everything I can to chase the gold next time!"

Elliott was supported in 2018 by the Luton Sports Network's Talented Athletes Fund which helps with grants ranging from £1000-£2000. The scheme is open to both able-bodied and disabled athletes. Priority goes to those representing Great Britain or their home country in international competition at World, Olympic, Commonwealth or European level and including of course the Paralympic equivalent competitions. The scheme will support any athlete who lives in the Borough of Luton. If an applicant studies or trains outside of the Borough they can still apply, provided their family home is here.

The Luton Sports Network is a voluntary body, operating under Active Luton, and has been representing sport in Luton for over 30 years. The group, made up of a wide range of representative of the sporting community across the borough, meet approx. 4 times a year to discuss and contribute to a variety of local sporting outcomes from Luton's Strategic Vision for Sport and Physical Activity.
