Opening School Facilities Fund Phase 2
"What a terrific response from schools across Bedfordshire to the Opening Schools Facility Fund application window. Demand for funding support outstripped supply and the quality of the applications made it a very competitive process. As a team we were delighted with how many schools demonstrated their passion and determination to work to support young people who face multiple barriers to participation and we hope we can continue to work with all schools to reduce the inequalities many face."
Clare Fitzboydon, Director of team BEDS&LUTON
In February 2021 Sport England announced that £10.1 million of Department for Education funding (DfE) will be invested into the Active Partnership network to:
- support schools to open their facilities outside of the normal school day
- to increase the breadth and volume of sports and activities available
Particular focus will be on those schools with a high percentage of pupils eligible for FSM, Pupil Premium and SEND; also schools within areas of deprivation where physical activity levels are typically low.

* Please note that this round of funding of applications is now closed.
